Arcade Son Video Games:
There are allot of Video games out there for kids that are free to play and with about 5 minutes worth of research you can get a decent judge of if your child should be playing it or not.
First of all, please familiarize yourself with Video Game ratings. They work just like movie ratings, and they are present on every game out there.
Games played from your Internet Browser are a shade different, most are not rated, and that’s where research comes in. Play the game yourself for a few minutes… Is it something your child should be playing? Does it have the ability for others to talk to your child or is it purely a solo game? (Arcade Son only plays Solo games)
NOTE: I am working on a list of the games that he has access to right now online
Games we play together (Most of these he watches me play, but not all):
- Lego – anything to be honest, they are all silly, fun, and help him with his Hand Eye coordination
- Mario Kart – we play the versions of this we have, which is the SNES, Wii, and the NES 64
- Magic the Gathering – Xbox version
- (a few others, still drafting this)
Arcade Dad Video Games:
I play allot of games, far more than is probably good. Here is a list of the games I play with thoughts on them and whether or not I will play them when Arcade Son is around.
- Call of Duty: MW1, MW2, Black Ops, etc… – I will not play the Campaign mode, and most times not Multiplayer when he is near or watching.
- Mass Effect 1, 2 – For the most part I will play this game. (Not every scene though, or every fight)
- Borderlands – Okay, I love Borderlands, but I play it once Arcade Son is sleeping
- World of Warcraft – When I do play, I don’t mind if he watches. There is allot to do in this game thats not fighting so I go and do those things. (He runs me around the cities and makes me jump off of random things. Also I close ALL CHAT WINDOWS!)
